Krystal's Birthday Session

Let me tell you all about Krystal, a radiant ray of sunshine who waltzed into my Suwanee, GA studio for her 30th birthday boudoir session – well, almost waltzed! Krystal was a whirlwind of nervous energy, cheeks flushed and a confession tumbling out: "Okay, so I might be a tad late, and I popped my 0 balloon!"

We all have those moments, right? But Krystal's fluster only added to her charm. I think what's fun about photographing complete strangers is getting to see them transform from shy and overwhelmed to happy and outgoing in under an hour. I attribute that to a lot of reassurance on my part and a calm, encouraging demeanor. 

Krystal rocked an all-black theme that was equal parts sophisticated and playful. Her first outfit was a gorgeous long, black dress that clung to her curves. She had no confidence with her poses and I gently guided her into each pose and got her to enjoy it and have fun with it– it was like watching liquid confidence take shape. She seemed to enjoy it more and more minute by minute as I played into her personality and let her feel free to enjoy herself in front of the camera. I showed her a couple of the shots I took and she squealed with delight "OMG!!! Those are SO GOOD!" I said "Yes, girl! You need to be a model. You look amazing!!! I promise you I know what I am doing!" Cue happy dance from her.

She changed into her short, black dress for the second of her session. It was adorned with delicate pearls and feathers that may or may not have gotten all over the studio. I was giggling picking up feathers. This playful dress brought out a whole different side of Krystal – a side that was flirty, fun, and radiating pure joy.

The best part was seeing Krystal's transformation throughout the session. With each click of the shutter, her nervousness melted away, replaced by a newfound confidence. By the end, she was a full-blown boss, striking poses and rocking those black outfits like a seasoned pro.

Krystal's story is a beautiful reminder that birthday photography isn't just about capturing physical beauty. It's about capturing the essence of who you are at that very moment. A little nervous, a lot excited, and completely ready to embrace a new chapter in life. Happy 30th Birthday, Krystal! You absolutely slayed your session, and here's to many more years of feeling fierce and fabulous!
