Sariah's 3rd Birthday Photoshoot - Suwanee, GA Photographer

Sariah just turned 3, and her birthday photoshoot was filled with sunshine, giggles, and sweet little moments that captured her big personality. At Yata Photography, we believe every birthday milestone should feel like a celebration—not a chore. So, let’s talk about what made Sariah’s session so joyful and how you can prep your little one for a smooth and happy birthday shoot too.

1. Keep It Light: Don’t Overdo Hair or Outfits

It’s tempting to want every hair in place, but toddlers don’t always appreciate extra fuss. For Sariah’s session, we kept her look simple, natural, and true to her style. Her mom let her hair be a little wild and free—just like her spirit—and it totally worked. Skip the heavy hair products or fussy accessories. The less you fuss, the happier your child will be.

2. Pack a Smile Kit 😄

Want to know the secret to getting big belly laughs and genuine smiles? Come prepared with a few of your child’s favorite things:

  • A favorite toy or stuffed animal
  • A small snack or treat (mini marshmallows, fruit snacks, etc.)
  • Bubbles, music, or a silly sound app
  • A blanket or familiar object if they need comfort

For Sariah, it was all about her favorite snack and a little purse that I gave to her to play with.

3. Be Goofy (Seriously, Get Silly)

This is your time to shine as the fun parent! During Sariah’s session, her mom and I took turns making silly faces, singing songs, and dancing behind the camera. Kids respond best to genuine laughter and play, not posing. If you’re willing to be silly and let loose, your child will feel safe and open up on camera.

4. Timing is Everything

Schedule the session after a good nap and snack. Avoid late afternoons when meltdowns tend to happen. For Sariah, mid-morning was the perfect sweet spot where she was full of energy but not overwhelmed.

5. Let Them Be Themselves

One of the best parts of Sariah’s 3rd birthday shoot was capturing her being her. Running, twirling, making silly faces—that’s the magic. At Yata Photography, we focus on real moments, not forced smiles.

Celebrate Your Little One’s Big Day 🎉

Birthday sessions are about joy, not perfection. With the right prep, patience, and playfulness, your child’s session will be something you’ll treasure forever.
