Sevyn's Newborn Session

Let me tell you, this week's newborn session was an adventure, to say the least! But isn't that the beauty of working with these tiny humans? They keep things interesting, that's for sure.

Now, dads booking newborn sessions are becoming more and more common, which always warms my heart. This time, it was Sevyn's dad who surprised everyone (including mama!) by arranging a photoshoot for their little princess. And guess what his color scheme of choice was? Pink and purple!

We got all set up with a gorgeous brown, beige, and lavender color palette in the trench bowl. It was soft, elegant, and the perfect backdrop for Sevyn's arrival. Except...well, Sevyn had other plans. Let's just say, she delivered a massive blowout – all over yours truly! Needless to say, the session took a brief pause while I, uh, changed into a clean pair of pants.

Once the, ahem, situation was under control, Sevyn seemed to apologize for the earlier…incident. She transformed into the most cooperative little model, blessing us with the sweetest yawns and snoozing great for the session!

We captured her nestled perfectly in the heart bowl, looking for all the world like a precious little amethyst gem. Then, it was on to the table poses! Draped on a dusty rose fabric, Sevyn looked like a little sleeping beauty surrounded by soft textures and muted tones.

I asked the parents if they wanted to incorporate any sports into their session as I have an assortment of sports stuff to add in and the dad immediately said "BASKETBALL!!!" That was his FAVORITE photo out of all of them! 

By the end of the session, Sevyn had completely stolen my heart (and thankfully, not my clothes again!). It was a beautiful reminder that even with a few unexpected moments, newborn sessions are pure magic. Dads who book these sessions – you're the real MVPs! And to Sevyn, our little champion pooper-turned-model, here's to a life filled with sweetness (and maybe a little less mess?).
