Sometimes, I love going back through my older photography work and seeing just how far I've come. My photography, editing, and style have definitely evolved over the years, but that doesn't mean I love these older images any less!
This adorable princess session with sweet little Zoe was photographed about eight years ago, and I still think these photos are absolutely precious!
Zoe was around five or six years old at the time, and she was the cutest little princess. We photographed her session in the middle of January because apparently, freezing temperatures and princess portraits sounded like a great combination! Haha!
She did such a fantastic job throughout her session, even though it was pretty darn cold outside. At one point, the cold finally got to her, and she started crying. And while I certainly didn't want my little princess to be uncomfortable, that moment resulted in one of those sweet, candid photographs that I still find absolutely adorable.
Sometimes, it's those little unscripted moments that make a photograph so special.
I've always loved photographing little girls dressed up as princesses. There's something so magical about the beautiful dresses, the excitement, and getting to make a little girl feel like she's stepped right into her very own fairy tale.
Looking back at these photographs reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.
Of course, there are things I would photograph or edit differently today. Eight years of experience will do that! But I also think it's important to appreciate the work that got us to where we are now. Every session, every challenge, and every photograph has been part of my journey as a photographer.
And honestly? Eight years later, I still think these pictures of Zoe are just as stinking cute as the day I took them!
Thank you, Zoe, for being such a wonderful little princess and braving that chilly January weather with me!
